Creighton Bluejays freshman shooting guard Khyri Thomas is the first BIG EAST Freshman of the Week of the 2015-16 season.

Thomas, nicknamed 'Tazz' by his peers, may not have been a "Human Suplex Machine" like his fellow namesake from Brooklyn, but performed at a high-caliber level against Texas Southern University on Saturday night in Creighton's opener. The Omaha native scored 18 points on an 8-for-11 mark from the field and grabbed three rebounds, picked up two steals and committed zero turnovers on the night.

The Bluejays will battle with UTSA on Tuesday night before heading to Bloomington to take on the Indiana Hoosiers of the Big Ten Conference as part of the inaugural Gavitt Games.
