The Stakes

Xavier is looking to continue a season opener win streak that dates back all the way to 1994. The last time the Musketeers lost their first game of the season was on Saturday, December 4, 1993 when a trip to Cameron Indoor Stadium went awry for Pete Gillen and the Musketeers, falling to highly touted Duke 82-60.

With regards to home openers, not since Southern Utah walked into Cincinnati and stunned Xavier 97-90 on December 2, 1989 have the Musketeers lost their first home game of the season.

The RedHawks, meanwhile, are looking to stun X this season to make it back-to-back on season openers. Coincidentally enough, Miami (OH) played... Southern Utah a season ago, beating the Thunderbirds 76-63 at John D. Millett Hall.
