The Marquette Golden Eagles were announced as one of eight participants in the 2017 Maui Invitational on Thursday afternoon.

Marquette's inclusion in the annual Thanksgiving Week tournament was revealed by the tournament's official Twitter account and website in a press release that states the Golden Eagles will be joining the California Golden Bears, LSU Tigers, Michigan Wolverines, Notre Dame Fighting Irish and Wichita State Shockers as six of the eight teams to be included in the field.

Joining those six power programs are VCU, a program that has been steadily on the rise in the 2010s with a Final Four appearance in 2011, and Chaminade, the official host of the event.

This will be Marquette's third time partaking in the Maui Invitational, having appeared in 2007 and 2011. The Golden Eagles were the runner up in the 2007 edition, which was won by the Duke Blue Devils. Coincidentally, that Duke program had current MU head coach Steve Wojciechowski on its staff.
