Another Saturday tripleheader is in the works for FOX Sports 1 this coming week, as the network be showcasing the Big East Conference in the afternoon prior to FOX's coverage of the NFL Playoffs. CBS Sports Network will be getting into the action as well, as they will be televising the surprisingly important matchup of DePaul-Villanova, where it's the former who stands unbeaten in conference to this point and not the latter.
Below you can find the announcer pairings for this weekend's set of games:
Game | Commentators |
Georgetown vs. Providence | Tim Brando, Bill Raftery (FOX Sports 1) |
Seton Hall vs. Creighton | Dick Stockton, Nick Bahe (FOX Sports 1) |
DePaul vs. Villanova | Andrew Catalon, Steve Lappas, Evan Washburn (CBS Sports Network) |
Xavier vs. Butler | Joe Davis, Tarik Turner (FOX Sports 1) |
The big-time pairing here from this Saturday's slate of games is the one pitting Tim Brando and the great Bill Raftery together in Providence, where the Friars will be welcoming the Georgetown Hoyas to the Dunkin Donuts Center. You have to imagine that FOX execs are a wee bit perturbed that they won't get the early battle for first place in the Big East between the Wildcats and Blue Demons. Then again, who really could have expected that sentence to be serious?
CBS Sports Network makes out a winner here regardless of that, and they will have Catalon tagging along with Lappas in any event. Evan Washburn will be patrolling as the reporter for this game. The usual CBSSN rotation has Jason Knapp, Chris Spatola and the incomparable Reggie Miller at Army-Navy, Brent Stover and Marc Jackson (not that Mark Jackson) in Laramie for a Mountain West showdown between Boise State and Wyoming, and finally Tom McCarthy and Alaa Abdelnaby, who called Seton Hall-Xavier earlier this week, will be in Richmond for Saint Joseph's-VCU.
Elsewhere here, no real surprises. Nick Bahe will be in Omaha to pal along with Dick Stockton, and the duo of Joe Davis and Tarik Turner will be at Hinkle Fieldhouse in Indianapolis for the matchup between the Xavier Musketeers and the Butler Bulldogs.
All sources of information in this post come from the Big East team's game notes as well as this press release from CBS Sports.
