The DePaul Blue Demons and Creighton Bluejays are through 20 minutes of action in Omaha. Here's the skinny on what's gone down at CenturyLink Center Omaha:
A downright stupendous 3-point performance catapulted DePaul to an early 20-5 lead in this ballgame. At one point, the Blue Demons were shooting a blistering 77.8 percent after making seven of their first nine attempts from downtown. DePaul's Forrest Robinson was responsible for five of those makes, including four of their first 3-pointers of the game. Those five are a career high for Robinson, and who knows if that will be shattered or not.
After cooling down considerably, the Bluejays have climbed back into the mix. Using a few 3-point buckets of their own, Creighton was within striking distance. Point guard Austin Chatman has been the driving force so far, leading all Jays with seven points.
However, a 9-0 run by the Blue Demons thrust them way ahead of the pack, 39-25.
The Blue Demons are leading in second chance points, points in the paint and bench points after the first 20 minutes. They also are ahead in points per possession, edging Creighton 1.258-0.833.
