With the Big East New Year's Eve Marathon and the year 2014 in the rearview mirror, the nation turns its attention to 2015 and with that, so to it does the Big East Conference. League play is in full swing and with the stakes running high, two teams that were dealt some heavy blows on the final day of the calendar year will square off in an "Old School versus New School" matchup. At least in regards to the conference's long, storied history.
The Creighton Bluejays will take a flight down the Eastern Seaboard to our Nation's Capital, as they will square off with the No. 25 Georgetown Hoyas at the Verizon Center. The last time these two teams met, it was the Hoyas who one-upped the Bluejays, taking them down in a March encounter in which they held superstar Doug McDermott to a 9-for-23 mark from the field and won by double digits.
This time around, Creighton looks a little bit different, and they're still roughing out the edges. Georgetown is also trying to find their way, so this will likely be an interesting affair as both teams will look to avoid a dreaded 0-2 hole to start up the conference portion of their schedules.

What's at stake
Both the Georgetown Hoyas and Creighton Bluejays are looking for their first conference wins of the 2014-15 season. This comes after falling to the Xavier Musketeers and Providence Friars respectively, with both meetings being road games for these two teams.
The Bluejays are looking to improve to 22-119 against teams nationally ranked in the Associated Press poll, and Greg McDermott will look to even up his record against Top 25 teams to 4-4. Georgetown is currently ranked No. 25 in the latest AP poll.
Not only will the Hoyas be looking for their first conference victory of this campaign, they will also be looking to even up the series against the Jays. The all-time record between these two is leaning to Creighton by the tally of 2-1. With a win on Saturday, Georgetown can move that to 2-2 and will later get a chance to best the Bluejays with three straight wins later this season when they square off in Omaha.
