What's at stake?
While both teams are looking good for the tournament according to ESPN's Joe Lunardi, they're both riding the bubble of the AP Top 25. After rising up to No. 19 in the poll, the Pirates fell to No. 24 in this week's poll and already dropped a disappointing game against suddenly hot DePaul this week, so if they want to keep their place in the poll, they need to avenge their overtime loss to Butler earlier this month. On the flipside, the Bulldogs currently sit in the "others receiving votes" category, and a second win over a ranked Seton Hall squad not only helps their tournament resume, but their standing in the polls. We've reached the point of the schedule where teams are getting their second look at the opponents, so it should be interesting to see what Butler and Seton Hall change up from their last matchup.
Players to Watch
Seton Hall: Sterling Gibbs, G - Junior
Butler: Roosevelt Jones, F - Redshirt Junior
No surprises here. They're the clear-cut best players on their respective squads, and both had huge performances in their last matchup. Butler was in the driver's seat for most of the second half of that game, but Gibbs led a late surge to force overtime, raining down three's en route to 30 points on 6-9 shooting from deep. Gibbs would foul out in the extra period, and Jones served as the savior for the Bulldogs, leading his team to a win despite two starters fouling out in regulation. They'll be the two watch once again on Sunday.
