Creighton vs. Butler: Halftime Notes

Despite some streaky shooting, the Butler Bulldogs lead the Creighton Bluejays 35-27 at the end of the first half

Brad Mills-USA TODAY Sports

- After a streak of nice, consistent offensive performances, the Bulldogs have slipped back into some bad offensive habits from earlier this season. So far, they're shooting just 38.7 percent from the field and 25 percent from three, and Kellen Dunham and Alex Barlow are combined 3-10. To their credit, they've grabbed eight offensive rebounds, which explains why the team holds the lead even with poor offensive efficiency.

- On the flipside, however, Creighton isn't exactly taking advantage of Butler's missed opportunities, despite shooting a nice 52.2 percent as team in the first half. They've been a bit sloppy on the offensive end with 12 turnovers, and they're getting torched on the boards during Butler's offensive possessions.

- Kelan Martin has had a nice performance tonight for Butler, which is huge for the team's prospects moving forward. With seven points on 2-5 shooting, he's knocked down shots in variety of spots and done a nice job of getting to the line.

- While it's unclear at this time what the official prognosis was, Creighton's Isaiah Zierden was helped off the floor after what looked like a lower-leg injury. We'll keep you posted once we get more information after the game.
