The Stakes
Since starting Big East play with an impressive record of 3-0, the Blue Demons have dropped two straight to two of the league's best teams: Villanova and Georgetown. To continue this positive outlook on the season, DePaul needs to avoid losing a third straight game. A win here would help silence doubters and prove to be a boost for DePaul's standing in the Big East.
St. John's, however, cannot afford a loss. They finally got their first Big East win of the season this week against Providence. A loss today would drop them to 1-4 in conference play, a deficit that is pretty difficult to make up for. St. John's has to win this game if it is to stay in the thick of the Big East title race. It's odd saying that this early in the season, but it's a hard truth.
Inside the Numbers
St. John's is one of the top-ranked teams in the nation on KenPom, as the site currently has them ranked 27th. Their adjusted offensive and defensive rankings are also very high as well, as they rank 49th and 36th, respectively.

KenPom currently has St. John's winning this game by a score of 78-70.
