Marquette vs. Xavier halftime notes

Frank Victores-USA TODAY Sports

  • This is the third game in a row that Xavier has faced a deficit at the end of the first half.
  • The Golden Eagles are led by the play of Duane Wilson and Matt Carlino. The duo has combined for 16 points with Carlino holding 10 of them on a 3-for-6 mark from the field. Luke Fischer has also been stout, scoring five points with a perfect 2-for-2 mark from the field, as well.
  • The Golden Eagle 3-point defense is still showing its worth. Xavier shot just 17 percent from the perimeter in the first 20 minutes.
  • Three players are tied for the lead for the Musketeers in points. Trevon Bluiett, Matt Stainbrook and Jalen Reynolds scored four points.
  • Xavier outrebounded Marquette 20-13 at the end of the first half, but MU holds a 14-4 edge in points off turnovers.
