In what has become a bit of a tradition under DePaul Blue Demons coach Oliver Purnell, a player who signed their letter of intent with the school will not end up playing for the team. In the past, it was players like Shane Larkin, Walter Pitchford, Braedan Anderson, and Jon Davis. This time it was their single high school commit from the Class of 2014, three-star forward Raymond Doby.
It is not known why Doby re-classified, but he will be heading to St. John's Northwestern Military Academy in Wisconsin for the 2014-15 season. DePaul was the only team to offer Doby a scholarship during his recruiting.
The Blue Demons are now left with three junior college players as their Class of 2014. This is yet another misstep for the coach who is arguably on the hottest seat in the Big East.
