Four Big East schools miss out, while Minnesota connects on Dupree McBrayer

Lefty from New Jersey spurns several Big East schools for the Golden Gophers.

First reported by Evan Daniels of Scout.com, 2015 recruit Dupree McBrayer (NJ) has committed to Minnesota.

McBrayer, who is deciding to attend a prep school, should be making a decision shortly. Minnesota already has one guard in Kevin Dorsey, who is attending Montverde Academy (FL) for his senior season. A source confirms that McBrayer has committed to Minnesota

McBrayer held offers from four Big East schools - Creighton, Providence, St John's, and Seton Hall. McBrayer took a visit to St John's a few weeks ago and told Big East Coast Bias that he really enjoyed the visit. St John's is in a hole right now as it seeks its first 2015 signing, but for Richard Pitino and the staff at Minnesota, they are getting a solid player.

McBrayer is a lefty that can get to the rim easily. He does not need a lot of space and is really versatile. Based on what I have seen, he can really get to the lane and gets to the foul line a lot, which will play in his favor. McBrayer is a tremendous scorer that will go along with Dorsey, who is an attacker and can shoot the ball well. Coach Pitino's system should be a great benefit to McBrayer's skill set.
