Crossroads Classic extended through 2019

The all-Indana doubleheader has become a fan favorite since it's 2011 inception.

Good news for fans of college basketball in Indiana: The Crossroads Classic has been extended through 2019, Purdue announced Thursday afternoon.

The Crossroads Classic debuted in 2011, and every year since fans have flocked to Indianapolis' Bankers Life Fieldhouse to watch Butler, Notre DamePurdue, and Indiana square off.

In even numbered years, Butler and Indiana play while Notre Dame faces Purdue. In odd-numbered years, Butler faces Purdue while Indiana plays Notre Dame. Per regulations, Indiana and Purdue never face off due to their Big Ten alignment. Consequently, Butler and Notre Dame never face off due to Notre Dame's former membership in the Big East.

The Classic has produced some thrilling games in it's first three years, most notably, this Butler-Indiana showdown from 2012 which saw the unranked Bulldogs knock off the #1 ranked Hoosiers.

This year's Classic will take place on December 20, and will feature Butler facing Indiana while Notre Dame faces Purdue (Times TBA).
