Austin Chatman injury: Hurt thumb will sideline Creighton point guard for two months

The Creighton point guard will undergo thumb surgery, but should be able to be back in time for the regular season.

Earlier today, Creighton University that point guard Austin Chatman will undergo thumb surgery and will miss the next two months of offseason workouts.

While this looks like it will not force the Bluejay guard to miss the start of the regular season, it certainly will stunt his ability to gain camaraderie with his new teammates, as Chatman is set to be the only returning starter from the 2013-14 season.

As a junior, Chatman averaged 8.1 points and 4.4 assists last season, and was named to the All-Big East Tournament team. He is the Creighton Bluejays' leading returning scorer from last year, in which they were runners up in both the regular season and Big East Tournament races.
