Former Creighton Bluejays star Doug McDermott can add yet another piece of hardware to his already filled set, as he took home the ESPY Award for "Best Male College Athlete" on Wednesday evening.
The former Bluejay finished his career as the NCAA's fifth leading scorer of all time in the 2013-14 season, and capped off a legendary career by winning the 2014 National Player of the Year Award, as well as the 2014 Big East Conference Player of the Year Award in Creighton's first year in the conference.
McDermott beat out Florida State Seminoles quarterback Jameis Winston, Boston College men's hockey left winger Johnny Gaudreau, Penn State Nittany Lions wrestler David Taylor, and Albany Great Danes men's lacrosse player Lyle Thompson for the award.
