Stephen Domingo, who announced in early April his decision to transfer from Georgetown, has decided to sign with the University of California. Domingo is from the Bay Area and told the San Jose Mercury News that Cal was one of his top schools of choice coming out of high school.
"Georgetown was just not the right basketball opportunity for me," Domingo informed the San Jose Mercury News. "I'm going forward and Cal will be a place I can flourish and show what I can do."
Cal finished with a 21-14 record last season and made it all the way to the NIT Quarterfinals. In addition, the team hired a new coach, who has a career winning percentage over .600.
"Coach Martin said I'll be able to use my length and athleticism on the defensive end and I can be a matchup problem on offense."
Domingo seems very ecstatic to play at Cal, but will have to sit out next season because of the NCAA transfer rules.
