"The Basketball Tournament" or TBT is a completely new tournament that will take place this June at Philadelphia University. There will be a total of 32 teams in the tournament with 24 of them being selected by May 1 based on the amount of fans they have. Between May 1 and May 8, TBT will pick the last eight teams based on their size, talent level and story, to round out the field. The teams will start five players, but can have more than that on their team plus a GM and will compete for the grand prize of 500,000 dollars.

This tournament is not like any other with fans choosing what teams they want to see and what team out of the final two will host the championship game. Fans will also have a chance to win prizes just like the players. Some of these prizes are 25,000 dollars, a trip to Las Vegas for 10, a trip for two to  "The Basketball Tournament" final and more.
These teams are by no means like a YMCA recreational team, featuring 18 players with NBA experience along with former college basketball and specifically Big East stars.

Chris Wright and Austin Freeman, who both had great careers at Georgetown, and went on to play in big basketball leagues around the world are playing on DMV’s Finest, a team made up of talent from the D.C area. Ryan Gomes, a former Providence basketball stand out and NBA veteran will play on Team Barstool with other former NBA players.Henry Sims, the former Georgetown star and current starting center for the Philadelphia 76ers is questionable to compete in the tournament with the St.Joe Effect, a team composed of Mt St Joseph High School alumni. Sims will make the decision whether or not to play in the tournament after speaking with his agent.

Austin Freeman of DMV’s Finest stated, "I couldn't be more excited for the opportunity this summer to join up with Chris for a good cause. I think our team has a lot of chemistry and we have a great shot at winning it all. Win or lose, we just hope to give the fans something exciting to watch while also bringing awareness to the Zaching Against Cancer Foundation."

Besides individual former Big East talents, the "core group" of the 2009 Villanova Final Four team is reuniting to play in the tournament. The players on Team ROBY: Nova 09’ Final Four include Maalik Wayns, Corey Fisher, Scottie Reynolds, Reggie Redding, Dwayne Anderson, Dante Cunningham, Antonio Pena and Mouphtaou Yarou.
It will be very exciting in June to witness current and former basketball players along with successful teams come together to face each other for a tremendous grand prize.
