ESPN's Jeff Goodman is reporting that the Marquette Golden Eagles have hired Duke Associate Head Coach Steve Wojciechowski. This completes a two week search started when Buzz Williams left for Virginia Tech. After flirting with former UCLA head coach Ben Howland and VCU coach Shaka Smart, Marquette seemingly settled on Tennessee's Cuonzo Martin. However, with Martin removing himself from consideration last night, Marquette moved quickly to land one of the most respected assistants in the nation.
Wojciechowski graduated from Duke in 1998 and returned a year later to join the program as an intern and later an assistant coach. Mike Krzyzewski's coaching tree includes former Big East coaches Tommy Amaker and Mike Brey in addition to Stanford's Johnny Dawkins, who led the Cardinal to the Sweet Sixteen this season.
