Xavier Center Matt Stainbrook strained the MCL in his left knee in the Musketeers loss on Monday. Stainbrook will miss Thursday's game which is against Villanova, the top team in the Big East, and will be day-to-day after that game.
Coach Mack stated regarding the Center’s injury, "Everybody’s knee responds differently. We won’t know a whole lot," "Doctors certainly have not ruled him out from returning for the Big East tournament and hopefully beyond."
This is a big blow for Xavier because Stainbrook is the key to their team, leading the pack in rebounding and is one of the best in scoring and dishing. Xavier is a team on the bubble and will need all of the wins that they can get to build up their resume.
Stainbrook said on Twitter, "Thanks for all of the well wishes #XavierNation I'll be all good. Need to bounce back and be ready for Thursday. No hanging heads."
