Amidst the madness that is the NCAA Tournament, a coaching move has sent shockwaves throughout the BIG EAST Conference.
Buzz Williams, the now former head coach for the Marquette Golden Eagles, has agreed to become the new head coach for the Virginia Tech Hokies, per Yahoo! Sports' Pat Forde.
According to ESPN college basketball insider Jeff Goodman, the deal that has brought Williams to Blacksburg, Va. is for seven years.
The tenured coach for the Golden Eagles had a superb run in Milwaukee. In his five seasons, Williams missed the NCAA Tournament just once, this past season, and just once did Marquette fail to win a game in the tournament (2010). Williams made three consecutive Sweet 16 appearances from 2011-2013, including an Elite Eight appearance a season ago.
In all, Williams finishes his tenure with a 139-65 record, and an impressive 69-36 record in the BIG EAST Conference.
