Cotton Earns Player of the Week Honors

Thanks in part to two stellar performances against Villanova and Butler, Providence point guard Bryce Cotton was named BIG EAST Player of the Week by the conference on Monday, per their official website. The senior from Tucson, Ariz. was superb in a losing effort against Villanova on Tuesday as well as the Friars' victory over the Butler Bulldogs on Saturday. Cotton scored 22 points while shooting 80.0 percent from the free throw line on 10 attempts against the Wildcats, and added six rebounds and nine assists to that line. The Providence point guard followed that up with a 28-point performance against the Bulldogs, while shooting a crisp 66.7 percent from the field on 12 attempts, a perfect 7-of-7 from the FT line, and added six assists as well.

Garrett, Jr. Nets Rookie of the Week

DePaul might be struggling this season, but freshman Billy Garrett Jr. has been a glimmer of hope for the Blue Demons and their fans. Last eek, he continued that success with two outstanding performances. The Chicago native scored 17 and dropped five assists in a losing effort against Xavier on Wednesday, and scored a season-high 26 points in DePaul's loss to Marquette on Saturday.
