Frank Victores-USA TODAY Sports

Justin Martin scored a career-high 22 points as Xavier handled DePaul at home 83-64 on Wednesday night.

The forward grabbed seven rebounds, while guard Dee Davis added 17 points and seven assists, leading the Musketeers (18-8, 8-5) to a season-high 64.3 percent shooting day. Sophomore guard Semaj Christon scored 14 points, and forward Isaiah Philmore had 11.

DePaul (10-17, 2-12) drops its ninth straight game, their sixth straight season featuring a nine-game losing streak. Freshman guard Billy Garrett Jr. led the Blue Demons with 17 points. DePaul shot 36 percent, its third-worst percentage of the season. Junior forward Forrest Robinson scored 14 points, while starters Brandon Young (12) and Sandi Marcius (11)  scoring in double figures as well.

Xavier led at halftime 39-27, after Garrett hit a three at the buzzer to cut the deficit to 12. The Musketeers began the second half with a 14-0 run, including eight points from Martin. Xavier stays in 3rd place, behind Creighton and Villanova, in the BIG East. They will finish the conference schedule with a tough stretch, beginning on the road this Saturday at Georgetown. DePaul will look for a positive sign throughout the rest of the year, starting with a return home to Allstate Arena against Marquette Saturday.
