Andre Jernigan and Josh Prevost, both redshirt underclassmen, were named Big East Player and Pitcher of the Week for their performances in the first week of the season.
Andre Jernigan, the freshman shortstop for Xavier University, was named the Big East Player of the Week, after having a .545 AVG, five runs and two RBIs in Xavier’s opening weekend. Jernigan lead the team to a 3-0 start, which is the team’s best start since 1985.
The Big East Pitcher of the Week was awarded to Seton Hall sophomore, Josh Prevost. In Prevost’s first career start he allowed only one run in six innings against one of the best teams in College Baseball, Oklahoma. The Hall went onto win their opening contest 7-5 against the Sooners, due in large part to Prevost's performance.
