St. John's Red Storm guard D'Angelo Harrison was named Big East Player of The Week after strong outings in his most recent outings, per a press release from the conference.
Harrison averaged 20.0 points and 6.0 rebounds in his team's matchups with Niagara and Syracuse last week. This included a 24-point performance against the Orange in the Carrier Dome, helping lead his Johnnies to a huge road win in upstate New York. As a result, the Red Storm leaped into the Top 25 rankings this week.
Seton Hall Pirates freshman Isaiah Whitehead was tabbed as the Big East's Rookie of the Week. The 6-foot-4 freshman exploded for 25 points against in-state rival Rutgers in the inaugural Garden State Hardwood Classic in Newark, New Jersey on Saturday. He averaged 18.5 points and 3.5 assists in his two games last week, the other coming against Mount St. Mary's. Whitehead shot a combined 59.1 percent in these two outings.
Named to the Big East Honor Roll this week was Butler Bulldogs guard Roosevelt Jones, Creighton Bluejays guard Austin Chatman, Villanova Wildcats guard Darrun Hilliard, Xavier Musketeers guard Myles Davis and finally, DePaul Blue Demons center Tommy Hamilton IV.
