St. Joseph's vs. Villanova: Halftime Notes

Bill Streicher-USA TODAY Sports

The No. 10 Villanova Wildcats lead the St. Joseph's Hawks 44-24 at the end of the first half in this Big 5 matchup at the historic Pavilion on Villanova's campus.

The top performers of the half for Villanova have been the trio of Dylan Ennis, Josh Hart and Darrun Hilliard. The three guards have scored a combined 25 points -- though neither of the three have entered double figures to this point. Hilliard looks to be hitting his stride which is surely something that 'Nova fans should look forward to. The Bethlehem, Pennsylvania native has three rebounds, three assists, a steal and even a block after the first half.

The Wildcats are knocking down their 3-pointers this afternoon, which is truly helping the cause. Usually struggling from the perimeter, 'Nova is shooting 8-for-15 today from downtown. That, more than anything, is making the difference in this matchup based on the huge discrepancy in points.

St. Joe's could not be more of a contrast on the court today. They haven't gotten much offensive production today from anyone not named Chris Wilson or Aaron Brown, who each have seven points. They're far from efficient, shooting 36 percent today on 25 attempts, while going a dismal 1-for-9 from the 3-point line. The only area where they're even approaching goodness is from the free throw line and even then, it's just a mark of 55.9 percent.

Enjoy the second half!
