The Wildcats look to remain unbeaten and get off to their best start since the 1937-38 season where the Wildcats started 13-0 en route to finishing 24-4. Their current mark, according to the Villanova-issued game notes, is tied for the second best start in program history, which came during the 1948-49 and 1961-62 seasons. 'Nova is also looking to move to 9-5 all-time under Jay Wright in Big East season openers.
Butler, meanwhile, is looking for their first ever win against Villanova. The series history leans towards the 'Cats to the tune of a 3-0 mark. The Bulldogs are also looking to improve upon a 7-2 in mark in their last nine conference openers, coming in the Horizon League and the Atlantic 10 along with their Big East debut last year.

Butler: (10-3), 37th on KenPom. 128th in Adjusted Offensive Efficiency, 11th in Adjusted Defensive Efficiency. The Bulldogs are 97th in eFG%, 75th in TO%, 55th in OR%, and 94th in FTRate. Finally, they rank 168th in 3PT FG%, 86th in 2PT FG%, and 267th in FT%.
