The Seton Hall Pirates will be taking on in-state rival Rutgers later this week, but before South Orange and Piscataway collide, the Pirates first have to take on Mount St. Mary's. So far, things are going pretty well.
The Hall leads the Mount St. Mary's Mountaineers by the tally of 45-29 after one half of play. Thus far, what's most stood out so far is the play of forward Angel Delgado. The Dominican Republic native, who came into the night averaging 7.4 points and 9.8 rebounds per game, has nearly the same numbers after just one half of play. Thus far, he's scored nine and grabbed seven rebounds as he has been chomping at the bit against their adversaries.
Rebounding has been one of the most attributed factors to this near 20-point lead that Seton Hall has supplanted this Tuesday evening. So far, they lead 20-13 in that department, and have an Offensive Rebounding% of 53.8 percent to the Mountaineers' 35 percent mark after the first half.
Tied with Delgado for the lead in points is freshman Isaiah Whitehead. Whitehead has come along in these last few contests, and so far, while his efficiency could be better (4-7 FG) he has found a way to contribute on the offensive end. One thing that he will have to make up for in the second half is limiting turnovers. So far, he leads all Pirates with three errors in the game, which is tied for a game-high with Mount St. Mary's guard Junior Robinson.
Seton Hall is leading in field goal percentage, 3-point percentage, and free throw percentage in this game so far. Their eFG% stands at at blistering 65.0 percent, with a TS% of 68.0 percent. They're keeping up with their winning ways on defense, limiting the Mountaineers to an eFG% of just 43.5 percent.
Enjoy the second half, everyone!
