Temple vs. Villanova game recap: Wildcats dominate Owls in Big 5 matchup

The only thing about this game that you could call close is the geographic proximity of the schools.

Derik Hamilton-USA TODAY Sports

The Villanova Wildcats dropped the Temple Owls by a score of 85-62 at the Pavilion in Villanova, PA. Josh Hart rode a 15 point first half to a final stat line of 20 points, seven rebounds and three assists and Darrun Hilliard went off for 20 points and four rebounds to lead the Wildcats. These two performances mark the first time any Villanova player has surpassed the 20-point mark all season. The game was never really close after the first two minutes.

Darrun Hilliard really seems to be rounding into form.  His usually strong defense was finally complimented by his well rounded offensive abilities.  Hilliard made shots, going 6-for-7 from the field, and got to the line often where he went 5-for-7. Every player contributed and there were not many dark spots in the victory.

Obi Enechioya played aggressively for the Owls and finished poorly with no second half baskets after going for 10 points and 6 rebounds in the first half. The Owls play next at Delaware on Thursday.

As for the Wildcats, they head to Wells Fargo Arena for a bout with former Big East rival Syracuse on Saturday, December 20. The Orange have dropped a few early, including one in the ACC-Big Ten challenge to suddenly slipping Michigan. However you can never overlook Jim Boehiem's boys from upstate New York.
