Jim O'Connor-USA TODAY Sports

Seton Hall Pirates guard Sterling Gibbs, and Marquette Golden Eagles freshman guard Duane Wilson were named as the Big East Player and Rookie of the Week by the conference for their performances this past week.

Announced in a press release by the Big East on their official website, Gibbs and Wilson were given the honors based off of terrific outings in their respective tournaments. Gibbs and the Pirates would win the 2014 Paradise Jam Tournament in the U.S. Virgin Islands, while Wilson and the Golden Eagles had a 2-1 showing in the 2014 Orlando Classic in Orlando, Florida.

Gibbs' performance of note was his 40-point outing against Illinois State in the championship round of the Paradise Jam. In all, the junior guard averaged 22.33 points, 2.33 assists, and 1.67 steals in the three games he played.

Wilson meanwhile also scorched an opponent with a prodigious offensive performance. The freshman guard averaged 17.25 points in his four games during the week, including a 30-point outing on Sunday against the Tennessee Volunteers. Wilson also added a 15-point performance against the Michigan State Spartans of the Big Ten Conference. He also averaged 1.75 assists and 1.25 steals in those four contests.

Butler Bulldogs guard Kellen Dunham, Georgetown Hoyas guard D'Vauntes Smith-Rivera, St. John's Red Storm guard D'Angelo Harrison, Villanova Wildcats guard Dylan Ennis, and DePaul Blue Demons forward Myke Henry were all named to the weekly Big East Honor Roll.
