Navy vs. Providence: Halftime Notes

The Friars got out to a 40-20 lead at the break. Here are some noteworthy items from the first 20 minutes of action at the Dunkin Donuts Center

Adam Hunger-USA TODAY Sports

  • LaDontae Henton got off to a hot start with 10 points to lead all first half scorers but the Friars senior leader picked up his second foul at the 7:11 mark.
  • Kris Dunn has made some really nice plays in the first half. He too picked up two first half fouls that relegated him to the bench with just over 5 minutes to go but he put up an impressive stat line: 4 pts, 7 asts, 5 rbds, 2 stls, 1 to.
  • Providence has managed to avoid the type of effort letdown that resulted in their opponent going on a run to eliminate big leads.
  • Navy has struggled with Providence's size as expected. They will miss senior forward Worth Smith who dislocated his kneecap against Michigan State in the season opener and will be out for at least 6 weeks.
  • The Providence freshmen have played much better as a group tonight. Kyron Cartwright has made some excellent passes. Ben Bentil has been active on the glass, Jalen Lindsey is shooting well and Paschal Chukwu has a few thunderous dunks.
