The Xavier Musketeers emphatically began the 2014 season with a 93-60 victory over the Northern Arizona Lumberjacks.
Senior center Matt Stainbrook's terrific abilities were put on display as he was the star of the night for the Musketeers. He connected on his first six field goal opportunities, including a 3-pointer, and missed just once while he was on the floor.
Another story to come out of Cincinnati on Friday evening was the play of freshman forward Trevon Blueitt. The Indianapolis native scored 18 points as well, and added five rebounds, two assists and two steals, too. Blueitt shot 75.0 percent from the field, and was a perfect 5-5 on his free throw attempts.
Much of the freshman looked terrific in their own regard, as Larry Austin Jr., Sean O'Mara, and J.P. Macura combined for 12 points on the night.
Sophomore forward Jalen Reynolds was terrific against the Lumberjacks, scoring 16 points and missed on just one of his nine attempts from the field. Reynolds also added five rebounds and two blocks, adding to the total of 36 rebounds that the Musketeers had to the Lumberjacks' 29.
