So, here's the deal.
We're currently looking to add writers for the upcoming college basketball season. If you're not familiar with the site already, Big East Coast Bias is primarily a Big East basketball blog. The Big East may have shrunk in size, but covering the conference will still require a dependable cast of writers who, hopefully, have a passion for college basketball.
I obviously have a lot of goals for what I want Big East Coast Bias to eventually become, but it's going to take time and patience. Recruiting updates, game previews and recaps, editorials, are the typical things you should expect in the coming months. I prefer numbers as opposed to narratives, so statistical analysis is going to be another key component of the site going forward. I'm also going to rely heavily on the readers to give constant insight into what they like and what they don't because that's obviously important and we'll always be listening. Most importantly, I want any fan of any Big East school to always be to find something they're personally interested in whenever they visit Big East Coast Bias.
Below are a few requirements and expectations I have for the site in the upcoming months.
Author Requirements/Expectations:
1) Experience with AP Style and preferably basketball writing.
2) Dependability is a critical requirement. If you want to become a contributor for the site that's great, but make sure you will have the time to contribute from time to time with game recaps, game previews, along with a few other things.
3) Interest in keeping up with High School recruiting. Recruiting is a big a part of college sports, obviously, so we'd like to have a few authors covering that side of things as well.
*Side note - I'd like to eventually have at least one beat writer per team within the conference to ensure every team is being fairly covered on our site. I understand that it will take time to get to this point- so bear with us there.
With all that said, if you're still interested in writing for the site e-mail me at chasethomas0418@gmail.com preferably with a couple writing samples.
The season is obviously right around the corner so the sooner you reach out the better.
