In addition to moving up the 23rd in the Associated Press Poll, the Louisville Cardinals moved into the USA Today Coaches Poll for the first time since 2007 following Sunday's 32-14 win over rival Kentucky. The Cardinals were previously unranked. Unfortunately, unlike the AP Poll, ballots are not made public so it's hard to say where the movement came from, but it's safe to assume that like the AP Poll, Louisville, moved didn't receive votes as high as 12 or 16, but did receive a lot more 24th and 25th placed votes than the week prior.

Fellow Big East members Cincinnati, South Florida, and Rutgers also received votes in the coaches poll. If Big East fans with a long term view are looking for a silver lining, Louisville is ranked, three other Big East teams received votes, and future Big East members Boise State is ranked 25th, while Central Florida also received votes. It doesn't do much to improve the mood after Memphis lost to an FCS school and Houston lost to Texas State, but it's a start. It's still very possible that two, maybe three current and future Big East teams finish the season in the top 25. Which would bode well for the 2013 season.
