In a surprise this afternoon President R. Gerald Turner has announced that Steve Orsini who was the Director of Athletics for SMU has been fired. He said "this decision was made after some conversations with Orsini the last few weeks". He also announced there will be a national search for a new Athletic Director starting immediately. Tim Leonard who was the Director of Athletics for external affairs will be made the interim director of athletics. This is a shock on the Hilltop, weeks after the hiring of Larry Brown.
