Bracketology: Syracuse Remains On Top, Notre Dame And Louisville Climbing

ESPN's Joe Lunardi has posted his latest Bracketology. In his latest projections of the NCAA Tournament field, Lunardi once again projects nine Big East teams will make the field of 68. He has consistently projected eight or nine Big East teams would make the field, though the particular teams he has projected has certainly changed as the season has drawn on.

Syracuse, of course, remained atop the East region and is the no. 1 overall seed in his projection. Also in the East region is Notre Dame as a no. 10 seed. The Irish have been one of the pleasant surprises in Big East play this year and are climbing the seedings fast. In the South region, Lunardi lists Georgetown as the no. 3 seed and Cincinnati, which stopped the bleeding against DePaul on Saturday, as a no. 12 seed.

In the West region, three Big East teams check in with Louisville improving to a no. 6 seed, West Virginia a no. 8 seed, and slumping Seton Hall a no. 12 seed in one of the play-in games. The Pirates have lost six in a row and are in danger of sliding right off the tournament bubble after starting the year 15-2. In the Midwest region, Marquette is a no. 4 seed while Connecticut check in as a no. 7 seed. The Huskies will be without coach Jim Calhoun for the foreseeable future, so it will be interesting to see how they perform in his absence with the heart of the Big East schedule remaining.
