Tray Woodall Named Big East Player Of The Week, Chane Behanan And Pat Connaughton Named Big East Rookies Of The Week

BIG EAST Player of the Week

TRAY WOODALL, Pittsburgh, G, Jr.

Woodall led the Panthers in scoring in victories at West Virginia and against Villanova. He averaged 26.5 points, shot 62.5 percent from the floor, 54.5 percent from 3-point range and made all 17 of his free throw attempts. In Sunday’s 79-70 win against Villanova, the junior guard tallied a career-high 29 points, pulled down six rebounds and dealt five assists. He was 12-of-12 from the foul line. Earlier in the week, his 24-point effort help the Panthers win 72-66 at West Virginia. The Panthers have won four in a row.

BIG EAST Rookies of the Week

CHANE BEHANAN, Louisville, F, Fr. PAT CONNAUGHTON, Notre Dame, G/F, Fr.

Behanan and Connaughton become the first players to share BIG EAST Rookie of the Week honors since the 2005-06 season as both players scored 23 points with 11 rebounds to help their teams to wins last week.Behanan was 11-of-12 from the field and had eight offensive rebounds in a 78-66 win against Rutgers. Connaughton, meanwhile, was 9-of-12 from the field and had three assists and two blocks in a 76-59 win against No. 15/15 Marquette.

Averaged 13.0 points and 6.5 rebounds in a 2-0 week.

Eric Atkins, Notre Dame, G, So.

Scored 18 points with five assists in a 76-59 win against No. 15/15 Marquette.

Gerard Coleman, Providence, G, So.

Averaged 22.5 points and 6.0 rebounds in a 1-1 week. Scored a career-high 30 points in an overtime loss to West Virginia.

D’Angelo Harrison, St. John’s, G, Fr.

Averaged 26.0 points, 4.5 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 2.0 steals in a 1-1 week. Shot 60 percent (12-of-20) from 3-point range.

Darryl Bryant, West Virginia, G, Sr.

Averaged 23.0 points and 4.5 assists in two games. Scored 32 points, including the game-winning 3-pointer, in an overtime win at Providence.
