Rutgers will play Army this weekend in the Scarlet Knights' first game since being upset at home by Kent State. The service academies always make for a unique opponent and a unique gameday experience for opposing fans. Often schools will purposefully cheer for both teams or at least refuse to boo them. Rutgers will take it a step further this weekend by wearing a flag-themed helmet for Saturday's game. The Scarlet Knights are wearing the helmet shown above to show their support for the men and women of the United State military.
Rutgers is also using this weekend's game to raise money and support for victims of Hurricane Sandy. The New Jersey area was his extremely hard. Rutgers is giving away shirts that show their support for the state in exchange for a $15 donation to relief efforts. You can see the image that will be on the shirts below. You can also read more about Rutgers' planned relief efforts here.
