Darryl Bryant Named Big East Player Of The Week, D'Angelo Harrison Rookie Of The Week

The Big East conference just released their latest Player of the Week, Rookie of the Week and Honor Roll for Men's Basketball. Darryl Bryant of the West Virginia Mountaineers took home Player of the Week honors while D`Angelo Harrison of the St. John's Red Storm was named Rookie of the Week.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- The BIG EAST Conference has named West Virginia guard Darryl Bryant and St. John's guard D'Angelo Harrison the winners of the confrence's weekly men's basketball honors for the week-ending Jan. 8.

Bryant was named BIG EAST Player of the Week for the second time this season after he averaged 27.0 points, shot 48.3 percent from the field and made 50.0 percent of his 3-point attempts in a 2-0 week. He opened the week by scoring 29 points in an 85-64 win against Rutgers and followed that effort with a game-high 25 points in a 74-62 win against No. 9/9 Georgetown. Bryant has averaged a BIG EAST-leading 24.8 points in four conference games this season and ranks third in overall scoring at 18.4 points per game.

Harrison was tabbed as BIG EAST Rookie of the Week after he averaged 21.0 points and 7.5 rebounds in a 1-1 week for St. John's, including an 18-point, seven-rebound effort in a 57-55 win at Cincinnati, snapping the Bearcats' seven-game winning streak. He had a game-high 24 points with eight boards in a 73-58 loss at No. 11/10 Louisville earlier in the week. Harrison leads all BIG EAST freshmen in scoring at 16.0 points per game and has averaged 34.9 minutes for the Red Storm.

Averaged 19.0 points in a 1-1 week. Scored 19 points in a 67-60 win against No. 8/8 Connecticut.

Jordan Theodore, Seton Hall, G, Sr.
Averaged 16.5 points. 10.0 assists and 4.5 steals in a 2-0 week. Scored 19 points with 11 assists in a 75-63 win against No. 8/8 Connecticut.

Brandon Triche, Syracuse, G, Jr.
Averaged 16.0 points, 5.0 rebounds and 3.5 assists in a 2-0 week. Scored 16 points with seven rebounds, four assists and two steals in a 73-66 win against No. 20/20 Marquette.
