ESPN's Joe Lunardi released yet another way-too-early Bracketology on Tuesday. As has been the case consistently, his projections are full of Big East teams across the board. In total, Lunardi projects eight Big East teams to make the field of 68. At the top, of course, he has Syracuse as the #1 overall seed. He projects Connecticut and Georgetown as three seeds and Marquette and Louisville as four seeds. It will be interesting to see how this changes with Marquette's come from ahead loss to Georgetown and Louisville's tough January Big East schedule that has just three home games in the entire month.
Considering the preseason projections, it's surprising and encouraging to see the improvement that Seton Hall has made. After this week's dominating win over Connecticut, Lunardi once again projections Seton Hall in the field of 68, listing it as a #8 seed. West Virginia is projected as #10 seed despite being one of the younger teams in the country. Pittsburgh, dealing with injury, chemistry, and personnel issues is sliding and now, after starting the season as a top 10 team, is projected a #10 seed. Cincinnati, dealing with issues of its own early in the season and since the fight with Xavier, is no longer projected as a tournament team despite the team's improved play since the Xavier game.
