Rutgers Football Recruiting: Scarlet Knights Land Another In-State Lineman in Ryan Brodie

With nine of his class's current commitments coming from the state of New Jersey, Greg Schiano is enjoying one of his best years in state. Today, he got more good news when Long Branch, NJ offensive lineman Ryan Brodie (6'5, 260) committed to the Scarlet Knights. Brodie is rated a three-star prospect by Rivals.com and is rated the No. 11 players in the state of New Jersey. Brodie's commitment gives Schiano and Rutgers commitments from 5 of the state's top 11 prospects according to Rivals.com. Rutgers is still considered the favorites to land the top two players in New Jersey in defensive end Darius Hamilton and athlete Devin Fuller.

Brodie should put the finishing touches on one of the best offensive line classes in Schiano's tenure at Rutgers. In addition to Brodie, Rutgers has commitments from four-star offensive linemen JJ Denman and Chris Muller from Pennsylvania and three-star offensive lineman Derrick Nelson out of Washington D.C. As the offensive line has been young and the source of much of the offense's struggles in the past two seasons, this class should go a long way toward solving this issue in the future.
