The No. 1 Syracuse Orange will be without sophomore center Fabricio Melo for the next two games as he is not going to be on the team's road trip to Notre Dame and Cincinnati (/ht SB Nation New York).
In addition, junior forward Mookie Jones is no longer with the team. The two situations are unrelated.
With Melo, the report is that he has an academic issue. As for Jones, he has left the team for personal reasons but has tweeted that he will be back next season.
Melo will be an important loss for the Orange as he is one of the leading shot blockers (3 per game) in the Big East. He also averages 7.2 points and 5.7 rebounds per game. Jones is a reserve player who averaged 2.9 points per game in 5.4 minutes per game.
