Sean Kilpatrick Named Big East Player Of The Week, Eli Carter Rookie Of The Week

The Big East released their basketball Player of the Week, Rookie of the Week and Honor Roll list today. Cincinnati's Sean Kilpatrick was named Player of the Week and Rutgers' Eli Carter was named Rookie of the Week.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The BIG EAST Conference has named Cincinnati guard Sean Kilpatrick and Rutgers guard Eli Carter the winners of the conference's weekly men's basketball honors for the week-ending Jan. 1.

Kilpatrick averaged 18.0 points and 8.0 rebounds while helping the Bearcats to a 2-0 week. In a 66-63 win at No. 22/22 Pittsburgh on Sunday, Kilpatrick scored 14 of his 19 points in the second half. Earlier in the week, he recorded his first career double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds in a 56-55 victory over Oklahoma. For the season, he is averaging 15.8 points. He is first in the BIG EAST in 3-pointers made with 2.9 per game and third in 3-point shooting, making 41.2 percent.

Carter averaged 27.0 points, 4.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 3.0 steals in a 1-1 week for the Scarlet Knights, which included an 85-83 double-overtime win against No. 10/10 Florida. In the victory over Florida, he scored a career-high 31 points and made the game-winning basket. Carter also had seven rebounds and seven assists. He scored a game-high 23 points in a 67-65 loss at USF. Carter has reached double figures in scoring in the last eight games and is averaging 13.5 points for the season.

Scored 22 points in 72-59 win against Pittsburgh. He shot 8-of-13 from the floor, including 4-of-7 from 3-point range.

Maurice Harkless, St. John's, G/F, Fr.

Set a BIG EAST record by scoring 32 points in his first league game, a 91-67 win against Providence. He had 16 points and six boards in an 83-69 loss at Connecticut. For the two games, he averaged 24.0 points and 9.5 rebounds.

Fabricio Melo, Syracuse, C, So.

Averaged 12.0 points, 6.0 rebounds and 8.0 blocks in a 2-0 week. Shot 75 percent from the floor. Blocked a school-record 10 shots in a 75-49 win over Seton Hall.

Darryl Bryant, West Virginia, G, Sr.

Averaged 22.5 points in a 1-1 week. Scored a career-high 34 points in an 83-69 win against Villanova.
