Due to the National Guard's use of Connecticut's Rentschler Field as a distribution center for relief and supplies in the wake of the recently passed Hurricane Irene, Thursday's scheduled opener against Fordham has been canceled for now. There has been no official decision as of 5:00 pm eastern time today concerning when the game will be made up.
Out of concern for revenue alone, I can't imagine UConn will cancel the game altogether. So look for the game to either be played this weekend or made up later in the season. If the game is not played this weekend, it would be a big blow to UConn as it would leave the Huskies without a tune up in Pasqualoni and George Deleone's new offense before hitting the road to Vanderbilt in week two. Especially with no clear answer at quarterback.
Stay tuned to Big East Coast Bias for updates when the make up date is released.
