Others Receiving Votes: Texas 114, Penn State 75, Arizona State 67, Miami (FL) 32, Utah25, Southern Miss20, Iowa 19, North Carolina State 15, Brigham Young 15, Air Force14, Houston 13, Pittsburgh 9, Michigan 7, Tennessee 5, UCF 5, Northern Illinois 4, Hawaii 4, Tulsa 3, Maryland 2, Arizona 2, Northwestern 1, Nevada 1, Washington1

A couple of quick notes:

  • Pittsburgh received nine votes. They were the only other team to receive votes from the Big East.
  • The SEC has eight teams ranked in the initial poll, but is unlikely to finish with more than five.
  • Virginia Tech is not scheduled to face a single team in the preseason rankings.
  • Auburn faces all seven of the other ranked SEC teams.
  • I tweeted it, but, I believe in the preseason 2012 poll, the Big East will have four teams ranked. If I had to pick those four teams, I'd say they'll be TCU, West Virginia, Pitt, and either South Florida or Louisville.
  • I also believe that West Virginia, Pitt, and South Florida will finish the season ranked.
