Big East Linkage - July 30

Big East Linkage is a news roundup feature on BECB. Feel free to send us any relevant links, stories or posts you think might be interesting to readers at bigeastcoastbias at gmail dot com.

The Big East NFL signings continue: Former Mountaineer defensive tackle Scooter Berry is now a Houston Texan. He'll join another former player from West Virginia whom you might have heard of, Steve Slaton.

Providence Gets a Look: There is no blog on SB Nation that exclusively covers Providence College sports. However, the St. John's site Rumble in the Garden is looking at what Big East teams will be bringing to the table in 2011-2012. Providence was recently featured. The prediction is that, due to the personnel no longer with the Friars that, Providence will have to play slower and focus more on defense.

Down the DrivePreviews the Bearcats special teams unit before fall camp starts. Cincinnati's return game hasn't been the same since Mardy Gilyard moved on to the NFL. Can Akise Teauge give the Bearcats that spark back?

Sad News: Syracuse backup running back Prince-Tyson Gulley was stabbed on campus at a party. Fortunately, his injuries are not considered life threatening.

Not Big East Related...But: Bob Bradley was finally canned as the head coach of the U.S. Men's National Team. Juergen Klinsmann was almost immediately hired as his replacement. Needless to say there was great joy at BECB headquarters.
