West Virginia Gets Commitment from Cornerback Da'Quan Davis

West Virginia picked up their 9th 2012 commit today when cornerback Da'Quan Davis became a verbal commitment for the Mountaineers today while attending their 7-on-7 camp. This is West Virginia's third verbal commitment in a week.

Davis, a three-star cornerback from Calvert Hall College High School in Baltimore, was offered a scholarship by West Virginia back in February. Upon receiving the offer Davis said

I was overrun with emotion. It felt good with all the stuff I’ve been through and all the hard work, to finally have a Division I offer on the table. It feels good to be wanted. I just pray to thank God, thank my parents and coaches and everybody who believed in me. I still have unfinished business. I’m not satisfied with just one scholarship offer. I want to be the best I can be.

Davis felt he was close to getting other offers back and March. He was eventually was offered a scholarship by Marshall and received interest from Connecticut, Maryland, Notre Dame, South Carolina, Temple, Vanderbilt and Virginia.

This is a great pickup for West Virginia and new head coach Dana Holgorsen. As a Junior, Davis (5-10, 172 lbs.) fought off hamstring and groin injuries to make 48 unassisted tackles, 6 interceptions, 15 pass breakups and 2 forced fumbles.
