We were just sitting around the house casually doing laundry when the Pittsburgh football twitter (@GoPittFootball) dropped this tweet "Did you hear the news? The rivalry is BACK!" The rivalry of course refers to the Pittsburgh-Penn State rivalry which will resume for the 2016-2017 seasons.
Pittsburgh will get to host the first game in 2016 at Heinz Field on September 10. The return game in Happy Valley will be played on September 17, 2017. The two teams have not met since 2000. The Panthers won that last game 12-0 at Three Rivers Stadium. Penn State leads the all-time series 50-42-4. However, playing at home, Pittsburgh holds an 34-28-4 advantage. Penn State is 17-6 at home against Pittsburgh. Go here to see a video refresher of some of this rivalry game's past meetings.
I guess we all know that this news means Penn State was just scared of Walt Harris and Dave Wannstedt, right?
Let the countdown commence: 1,915 days until Pittsburgh-Penn State.
