Earlier in the day we had an expansion update: Air Force might wait until January to make a decision on joining the Big East. Now we have another: San Diego State appears to be ready to join the Big East.
Chances are good that San Diego State will join the Big East Conference in football unless something unexpected derails their ongoing discussions, sources close to the situation have said. (via Sign On San Diego)
This all day Big East coverage will be the kind of coverage you would come to expect in a coast to coast conference, which is on second thought, a much better name than the Big East.
The Aztecs will need to find another league to put their Olympic sports in, as will another potential Big East member in Boise State. San Diego State could not become a member of the Big East before July 2013. The Big East has not even extended an invite yet.
