Today is National Signing Day for basketball. We're keeping track of the Big East signings today during the early period. Here's what we've seen on what has already been a big day for two Big East teams:
Connecticut: Shooting guard Omar Calhoun will sign with the Huskies tonight. Calhoun is one of the top shooting guards in the 2012 class. For more on the Huskies see The UConn Blog.
Louisville: The Cards signed point guard Terry Rozier today. Card Chronicle says Louisville doesn't expect any more of the 2012 class to sign during the early period.
Notre Dame: The Fighting Irish inked three players: PF Zach Auguste, SF Cameron Biedschied and PF Austin Burgett. Auguste and Biedschied are both four-star players which pushes the Irish class to #16 at Rivals and the top 25 in other services. For more on the Irish check out One Foot Down.
Pittsburgh: Point Guard James Robinson is expected to sign today. The Panthers could have a top ten class for 2012. Should we be counting classes for teams that are leaving? Well so far commissioner John Marinatto intends to hold them in the conference for 27 months, so yes. To read more about Pitt, see Cardiac Hill.
St. John's: Norvel Pelle is expected to sign with the Red Storm today but not arrive until the 2012 class. Pelle, as you will remember, was ruled ineligible for the 2011 Fall semester. The Red Storm class took a hit yesterday when Ricardo Gathers decomitted. He will still consider St. John's as his top choice but the New Orleans native will sign somewhere in the Spring. Could LSU be back in the running? For more on the Red Storm, check out Rumble in the Garden.
Syracuse: PF Jerami Grant will sign with the Orange according to his coach. Syracuse's class could be Top 15. For more on the Orange, see Troy Nunes Is An Absolute Magician.
Villanova: The Wildcats have a top 15 class with four-star C Daniel Ochefu and PG Ryan Arcidiano signing today. Read up on Nova at The Nova Blog.
Future Big East
Houston: The Cougars have been putting together a Top 10 class for 2012. They signed two top players today in Danuel House and Danrad "Chicken" Knowles.
We'll update this story as the day goes on if any more players sign today.
