Big East Coast Bias power rankings: February 7, 2017

Few things changed since last time we saw you.

NCAA Basketball: St. John at Villanova Bill Streicher-USA TODAY Sports

Our latest edition of Power Rankings are out!

In this week’s edition, 17 pollsters ranked the Big East teams 1-10.

This week’s edition featured the contributions of Anonymous Eagle and Rumble in the Garden.

10. DePaul Blue Demons

(Score: 9.94; Last Week: 10; Highest Vote: 9; Lowest Vote: 10)

“DePaul has now lost six straight Big East games since their lone win over Providence.” - Robert O’Neill

9. St. John’s Red Storm

(Score: 8.75; Last Week: 9; Highest Vote: 8; Lowest Vote: 10)

“The Red Storm continue to impress me in conference play, just not enough to move them up higher than this.” - Robert O’Neill

8. Georgetown Hoyas

(Score: 7.63; Last Week: 8; Highest Vote: 6; Lowest Vote: 9)

“After avoiding disaster against DePaul, the Hoyas took an overtime loss to Seton Hall. They still may be able to make a run to the NCAA Tournament, though.” - Robert O’Neill

7. Providence Friars

(Score: 7.56; Last Week: 7; Highest Vote: 7; Lowest Vote: 9)

“It feels like the Friars have been in the seventh spot of the Power Rankings for a month straight. This was also my comment last week, and will be again as long as the Friars are at #7” - Robert O’Neill

"I have Providence at 9, because St. John's and Georgetown seem to be trending upwards in terms of ability to go out and beat teams. Providence is still a good team and choosing the order for 5-9 this week was one of the hardest things I've had to do since starting to write for this blog." - Sam Newberry

T-5. Seton Hall Pirates (1)

(Score: 5.44; Last Week: 6; Highest Vote: 1; Lowest Vote: 7)

“We love Seton Hall.” - Robert O’Neill

“Kareem and Wooden would collapse to the floor in fearful anticipation had they met these Pirates on a neutral site; their knees buckling while scouting the Sanogo's, the Carrington's, the Powell's of the far east, knowing their fate would be defeat most foul.” - Alex Sindelar

T-5. Marquette Golden Eagles

(Score: 5.44; Last Week: 4; Highest Vote: 5; Lowest Vote: 6)

“A tie! How exciting!.” - Robert O’Neill

"Marquette is, in my opinion, the most confusing team in the Big East, and having to pick where the middle of conference fell in my votes, I chose to let the Villanova win do some talking for one more week, even if they had it rough against Providence and St. John's." - Sam Newberry

4. Creighton Bluejays

(Score: 3.63; Last Week: 5; Highest Vote: 2; Lowest Vote: 4)

“Despite their loss to Xavier, Creighton looked like a team that has finally figured out their situation without Maurice Watson.” - Robert O’Neill

3. Xavier Musketeers

(Score: 3.13; Last Week: 3; Highest Vote: 2; Lowest Vote: 4)

“No Sumner, no problem. So far, at least. Despite losing Sumner and Trevon Bluiett’s ankle being a bit wonky, the Musketeers picked up two big victories over Seton Hall and Creighton.” - Robert O’Neill

2. Butler Bulldogs

(Score: 2.50; Last Week: 2; Highest Vote: 5 Lowest Vote: 2)

“The Bulldogs took a home loss to Creighton in their lone game of the week, raising some concerns in Indianapolis. Not here, though.” - Robert O’Neill

“Butler is fading fast and blame should be directed to leading scorer, Kelan Martin. Better shot attempts and fewer turnovers will do wonders for this team.” - Perry Waggoner

1. Villanova Wildcats (16)

(Score: 1.06; Last Week: 1; Highest Vote: 1; Lowest Vote: 2)

“The Wildcats took care of business, as they generally do” - Robert O’Neill
